Biography

Gwendolyn Watson

Gwendolyn Watson - Photo by THADMs. Gwendolyn Watson is a professional cellist, composer, improviser, and teacher living in Rome, Georgia. She was invited to perform at a twilight ceremony featuring an open-air premiere concert at the base of Mount Carmel, which concluded with the spectacular lighting of the 19 terraces in Haifa, Israel in May 2001.

Ms. Watson was invited to be present at the dedication in Haifa in order to play the cello at various musical events. "For me, this is an honor beyond my personal imagining," said Ms. Watson. "It is the greatest honor of my life . . . the second honor was that of being chosen to study with the Spanish Master, Pablo Casals in Puerto Rico in 1967."

A Baha'i since November 1991, Ms. Watson was attracted to the Baha'i Faith based on what she read in Baha'i Writings and what she heard from Baha'is at intimate public gatherings, called Firesides. "This Faith was just what I had been looking for all my life," said Watson. "I especially appreciated the concept of being a part of a worldwide spiritual family that was intent on helping the Kingdom of God to come on earth NOW!"
